U12 Fall Development Program Participants

ODP U12 Fall Development Program

2014
THE PROGRAM

Vermont Soccer Association is announcing the second year of its Fall 2014 U12 ODP Training Academy. The Academy is designed to be a developmental program in the truest sense of the words for players born in 2002, 2003 and 2004. These players will be allowed to grow and develop in the game in an environment alongside the most promising players in the state. The development of players is the only concern and the only focus of the program. The Academy will be a fun, intense and competitive program, and the competition will be used to encourage growth and excellence, not to measure or define a player's success.

The primary focus is to provide training that will improve each player’s technical ability, tactical awareness, and understanding of small group tactics.  Goalkeepers will receive field skill training, team training, and limited individual training.

The ODP U12 Training Program consists of 6 training sessions and ending with a round robin jamboree. Furthermore, each player will receive a written evaluation from ODP training staff to further develop and provide self-confidence to help each player progress to the next level.

The program is directed by Region 1 U-13 staff coach, and Vermont ODP Boys Head Coach, Craig Stone. The Academy is intended to give the competitive player exposure to an ODP training environment, and will also introduce players and their parents to the rewards and benefits of playing at the ODP level.

Training will be at two locations on Saturday mornings/afternoons for 90 min sessions.

 THE SELECTION PROCESS

Player pools of 10-25 boys and 10-25 girls will be selected at our Academy Identification Days.  The selection process begins with the Academy Open Days on August 16 & 23, and those players identified will receive a written request to continue in the program for its duration.

THE GOAL

The goal of the U12 ODP Training Academy is to provide a competitive, next-level training environment for competitive players born in 2002, 2003, and 2004.  Through training sessions and one-on-one coaching, the Academy aims to provide self-assurance, self-confidence, and the necessary habits-of-mind to enable every player to progress to the next level.  The Academy also aims to identify those players eligible for ODP consideration for the 2015 season.
