Region 1 Policy for ODP Pool Players

Players selected to the regional pools in July must play in their state ODP the following year to be eligible to participate in any Regional international or domestic event, both boys and girls. Click here for full policy.

Participation:

ODP players are expected to participate in all aspects of the program. Players are required to attend 1 indoor winter training and a minimum of 4 outdoor trainings and if selected, must attend the ODP Tournament in June. Players who do not attend the required number of trainings and the Tournament, will not be eligible to attend the ID camp in July.

The Vermont ODP Program abides by the policies and procedures outlined by the Vermont Soccer Association. Full access to these documents can be found on our VSA Policies page.

Inclement Weather Policy: Vermont ODP makes every effort to conduct its program as scheduled. Cancellation may be required in the event of unexpected weather or if snow or ice makes reasonable transport to the location hazardous for our players/families.  Additionally, when there is heavy rain, there exists potential for irreversible damage to fields if played upon.  Cancellation may also be required if permission to use fields or facilities is revoked by the governing authority. In the event of a cancellation, Vermont ODP will make every effort to reschedule. In the event of a postponement or cancellation:

  • Relevant information will be posted on our ODP Training webpage
  • Team managers and coaching staff will be notified
  • All players/families will be e-mailed
  •  If the determination is made that a session is cancelled within 2 hours of the scheduled start time, phone calls will be made to the player/family cell phones
  • If a session has started and unexpected changes in the weather force cancellation, we will notify parents by phone to arrange pick-up of players. In addition, the website will be updated with cancellation information.

Thunder/Lightning: When lightning is spotted or thunder is heard, all players and team officials are to proceed directly to cars or a safe building.  Everyone must remain in a safe location until at least 30 minutes have passed since the last clap of thunder or sighting of lightning has been observed before returning to the field.

For additional clarification about VT ODP's weather policies, please refer to the VSA Lightning Policy.

Concussion Management:

VT ODP Club Recruitment Policy: Vermont ODP players are fortunate to play soccer with players from various clubs throughout the state.  Our players must be free to participate in ODP activities and events without any club solicitation.  ODP players may not be recruited, or enticed, from the ODP setting to a club they are not currently registered with, either by the player's ODP coach, or any other coach, manager, parent, player/peer or team representative at any time.  ODP contact information may not be used for solicitation throughout the season nor during the VSA open player recruitment dates.

For additional clarification about VT ODP's recruitment policy, please refer to the VSA Recruitment Policy.
