Vermont Soccer Association is pleased to announce that Andrew Minnis has been selected by the State Association as its new Executive Director, replacing Meg Munson who after 26+ years is retiring. Andrew brings a wealth of experience in soccer to the state office as a player, coach and administrator.
Minnis has a background in Sports Management and Administration, as well as Sports Psychology. As a collegiate player, he competed at a pair of NCAA Division 1 schools in the University of Cincinnati and Bellarmine University. As a youth athlete, Minnis was named the Kentucky Youth Soccer Player of the Year in 2016, and he also received US Youth Soccer Player of the Month accolades in April 2018. Prior to joining Vermont Soccer Association, he spent time at Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC, working with various teams across the club as well as the Louisville City USL Academy League team. Additionally, Minnis was the Director of Coaching at Southern Indiana United before being appointed as the Sporting Director and Technical Director of Southern Indiana FC, alongside being the coach of their senior team.
“I am extremely excited to be joining Vermont Soccer Association and look forward to continuing to raise the standard of soccer across Vermont,” said Minnis. “Our goal to make soccer more accessible and more opportunistic while increasing our programs and offerings. Alignment with members across the state is something we are committed to ensuring going forward with all of our clubs, leaders, players and parents.”
Minnis holds US Soccer National Coaching Licenses and has been involved with the Olympic Development Program (ODP). Further, he holds key relationships across US Youth Soccer, which will aid in bolstering the impact and involvement that Vermont Soccer Association strives to have across the state and beyond. Minnis also brings a vision of growth, accessibility and opportunity to the state association. Alongside his strategic background in club and organizational management, his goal of making Vermont Soccer Association one of the best state associations in the country is unwavering.
“I am very thankful to Vermont Soccer Association and the entire board for their support, as well as Meg Munson, who has been an integral part of Vermont Soccer over the last 26 years,” continued Minnis. “I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to serve all of our members and Vermont Soccer, and I look forward to the many great things we will build together going forward.”
Minnis officially takes over the position of Executive Director after many years of service and dedication by Meg Munson to both the state and national office, who is officially retiring from youth soccer at the end of 2024.
“I would like to thank the board and membership of Vermont Soccer for the last 26 years,” said Munson. “It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve my state and communities in the growing this game that we all love. I am excited to turn over the keys to Andrew and see him bring Vermont Soccer to its highest potential.”
